Florida

Jan. 1, 2005

Kim and I have been in Florida since the end of the fall semester. Since we spent part of last summer in Europe, we didn't get a chance to visit Florida and our families, so we haven't been here in a year.

Surprisingly, I forgot how much warmer it is than Illinois. When we left Indianapolis airport, it was 17 degrees and snowing. Since we've been in Florida, I don't think the temperature has dropped below 55, and is consistently about 70. Illinois can keep their white Christmases.

Besides hanging out with my family, I've kept myself busy with reading, both for fun and also for this paper I'm supposed to write by March 1. So far, I've read "Lucky Wander Boy" by D.B. Weiss and "American Gods" by Neil Gaiman. I'm not sure what to start next, but it will probably be "The Scar" by China Mieville.

My dad bought tickets to the Bucs-Panthers game, but it was an embarrassing disaster of poor football. Kim's mom bought us tickets to Cirque du Soleil in Orlando. I was pessimistic about it, but it was actually a lot of fun.

The trip has been lots of fun so far. It was great seeing my family again. I've spent a lot of time outside enjoying the weather, trying to suck as much sun into my bones as possible before returning to the desolate winter wasteland.

With havin so much written content do you ever run into any issues of plagorism or copyright violation? My website has a lot of completely unique content I've either authored myself or outsourced but it looks like a lot of it is popping it up all over the web without my authorization. Do you know any solutions to help prevent content from being ripped off? I'd genuinely appreciate it.

Today, I went to the beach front with my children. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said "You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear." She put the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is totally off topic but I had to tell someone!
